- Spain plans to install 60GW of clean energy by 2030.
The Spanish government has announced a tender for 3.3GW of renewable energy capacity to be held in October. This tender will focus on projects with expedited execution timelines. 1.5GW of the capacity to be tendered will comprise onshore wind and 700MW of solar PV projects. In addition, Neutral-technology and distributed solar schemes of up to 5MW can compete for 200MW and 300MW of the tender, respectively.
600MW has been set aside as the quota for advanced-stage wind and solar PV projects planned to go online within eight months from the award before summer 2022. This auction is the second for the 2020-2025 period. The auction is expected to contribute to Spains targets of 60GW of installed clean energy capacity by 2030. In January, the country awarded 2,036MW of solar and 998MW of wind capacity. By the end of the year, Spain plans to hold a tender for at least 200MW of solar thermal capacity, 140MW of biomass and 20MW of other technologies.
