Spark Renewables has announced plans to develop a renewable energy generation and storage hub in New South Wales, Australia. The proposed Dinawan Energy Hub is a hybrid wind, solar and battery storage facility with a total capacity of about 2.5GW of total capacity.
The project will be sited in the South-West Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in NSW state, on the route of the ‘Project EnergyConnect’ connector and close to the HumeLink and VNI West connectors.
The project is expected to be completed in stages and is expected to augment for power supply as coal-fired power plants in the state are closed down. Spark noted that the project is currently in its development stage, with preliminary studies and consultations to begin in the coming months. The developer believes that construction could begin as early as 2024.
