- Statkraft will supply 76 GWh of wind and solar energy annually for 10 years.
- The PPAs will help reduce the emission of approximately 32,000 tonnes of carbon emission.
Statkraft, Europe’s biggest renewable energy producer, has signed two long-term PPAs with ALPLA, a global packaging manufacturer.
Under the terms of the PPAs, Statkraft will supply 76 GWh of wind and solar energy every year for 10 years. The PPAs solidify Statkraft’s market position and increase its customer base, particularly within the packaging industry.
Statkraft’s renewable energy portfolio has six solar parks and one wind farm. It achieves a consistent and stable feed-in profile by combining solar and wind power, effectively meeting the real-time electricity demand. The installed capacity of solar parks in Bavaria is approximately 40 MW, while the wind farm in Schleswig-Holstein has an installed capacity of 16.8 MW.
Receiving 760 GWh of green electricity between 2024 and 2033 will enable ALPLA to convert approximately 100,000 tonnes of plastic into sustainable packaging solutions. Additionally, ALPLA will benefit from long-term protection against fluctuating electricity prices.
The PPAs will help reduce the emission of approximately 32,000 tonnes of carbon, the same amount generated from 21,000 direct flights between San Francisco and Frankfurt.
