Sungrow says it will deploy its MV solution. This package comprises a PV inverter, an MV station, an all-in-one power conversion system, a battery container and an energy management system (EMS). Sungrow believes that its solution will adequately make the Malawian grid reliable as the MV solution is capable of frequency control, voltage control, peak shaving and reactive power support.
Sungrow will work with the developers of the project JCM Power and InfraCo Africa in Malawi. Energy Catalyst, Rina Tech UK (Rina), and Innovate UK are providing financial support for the project. The electricity generated by the power plant will be sold to the national grid owned by the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) under a power purchase agreement (PPA).
