- Sunna Design has been awarded a £40m contract for solar streetlights.
- The solar streetlight will be deployed in 12,000 communities
As part of the Cizo electrification project, the French company Sunna Design has signed a £40 million contract with the Togolese government to provide solar street lighting for rural communities in the country. Sunna will implement the public lighting project in Togo under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
Earlier this year, Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe signed the contract during the official visit to Paris, France. The company based in Blanquefort (southwest France) has thus committed itself to the Togolese authorities to install 50,000 solar street lamps in rural areas.
As part of the contract, Sunna Design will receive funding from the French Treasury. Headed by Thomas Samuel, the company plans to deploy its solar streetlights in 24 months. These street lighting kits will be deployed in 12,000 villages, benefiting 1.5 million people.
After the installation phase, Sunna Design is committed to ensuring the maintenance of its solar street lamps for 12 years.
