- Western Australian government commits AUD 1 million for green investments.
- Project feasibility could produce AUD 730 million of new investment in green industries and decarbonisation initiatives.
Sunshot Energy, an Australian energy company, proposes constructing a new battery and green hydrogen industrial hub in Western Australia. The new hub is to be powered by renewable energy, with a possible capacity to produce green ammonia and urea.
The Western Australia government, during the unveiling of the project, committed AUD 1 million as funds for the feasibility study for the project. The project plans will have the so-called Collie Battery and Hydrogen Industrial hub near Collie town. The battery storage is expected to have a 600MWh and 800MWh capacity, making it four times bigger than the Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia and the renewable energy plant to power the production of an electrolyser for green hydrogen.
Other possibilities for green ammonia and urea production are also being considered. The government estimates that the project, if it proves feasible, could create AUD 730 million of new investment in green industries and decarbonisation initiatives.
