Taiwan’s Electronic Maker Delta Signs PPA for Wind Energy

  • Delta will buy 19GWh from TCC annually.
  • Delta plans to achieve net-zero by 2030.
  • Electronic maker plans to replicate the PPA model worldwide.

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Delta Electronics has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to purchase about 19GWh of wind energy annually from TCC Green Energy Corporation. Delta has committed to reducing its carbon footprint and utilising 100 per cent clean energy by 2030. TCC will supply the energy from its Star Energy subsidiary 7.2MW Xinbao onshore wind farm.

Earlier this year, Delta joined the RE100 renewable energy initiative pledging to achieve carbon neutrality across its global operations by 2030. Delta says it has already reduced its carbon emissions by 55 per cent via energy conservation, in-house solar and clean energy procurement. The company plans to replicate this PPA model with TCC across its various sites globally.
