Agreement on the construction of a pipeline

- Pipeline to run from Hoima, Uganda to the seaport at Taima, Tanzania
The President of Tanzania Samia Hassan played host to the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni at the signing ceremony for the Tripartite Agreement on the construction of an oil pipeline.
The pipeline will run from the oil fields in Hoima, Uganda to the Indian seaport at Taima, Tanzania. The project is in collaboration with the East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project (EACOP). The pipeline will serve to develop the various sectors of the economy including the electricity sector,
President Museveni while speaking on the project, said ”The project is a very important regional project”. ”The corridor can be used to take another pipeline for gas to help countries in the great lake regions with this resource” he added.
Also in attendance at the signing ceremony held in Dar es Salam was the President, Total Exploration and Production Mr. Nicholas Terazz, representatives from the Ugandan National Oil Company (UNOC) and the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).
