- REB asks project contractor to speed up construction works on Luponde project
- The project will increase economic activities in the area upon completion
Tanzania’s Rural Energy Board (REB) has asked Rift Valley Energy Company to speed up construction works on the Luponde Power project. The Chairman of the REB, Julius Kalolo, gave the directive during a visit to the Luponde power project site.
Speaking at the site visit, Kalolo said, ”The project is at an advanced stage of implementation, but there are a number of challenges when it comes to connecting power to customers,” Kalolo urged for the fast track of the construction to enable the resumption of economic activities in the area.
Briefing the Chairman, Rift Valley Energy Manager, Mr Maxwell Mugombe stated that the project which said the Luponde power project has so far produced 1MW, which they have been selling to the national power utility- Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO).
