- Orders a speedy completion of JNHPP
- Asks TANESCo to review the project’s strategic plan
Tanzania’s Vice President, Dr Philip Mpango, has ordered a speedy completion of the ongoing Julius Nyerere Hydropower Power Plant (JNHPP). Mpango gave the order during a two-day working visit to the project site.
“It is critical that the Ministry of Energy takes immediate measures for the project to be finalized on time … this includes issues of foreign permits and how lost time in implementing the project can be compensated,” Mpango stated
Responding to Vice President Mpango, the Energy Minister, Mr January Makamba pledged to follow the directives.”The ministry will effectively supervise the Vice President’s orders taking into account their major role in overseeing the project,” Makamba said.
