TCN Assures Borno State Government of Efforts to Restore Power

The Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Sule Abdulaziz has sought the support of the Borno state government in providing security for the TCN. Abdulaziz led a delegation including the Managing Director of Yola Electricity Distribution Company, Mr. Baba Mustapha to visit Governor Babagana Zulum.

In a statement released by General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, Mr. Abdulaziz briefed the state government on the efforts of the TCN in rebuilding the electrical towers destroyed by the terrorist group Boko Haram. “First of all, I want to apologise on behalf of TCN over what happened in Maiduguri and the North East as a whole, we understand the urgent need for power supply especially in this axis at this time”, he said. Speaking further on the efforts of TCN, Abdulaziz said, “Everybody is working and they have been working every day, Saturday and Sunday inclusive”.

According to the statement, the materials needed for the ongoing restoration are presently at TCN’s Baga Road Substation in Maiduguri.

The Borno State Commissioner for Housing and Energy, Mr. Yuguda Vungas, assured the TCN of the state government’s support in providing security support for the ongoing restoration. “Our own part is to ensure that security is provided for human safety and the movement of materials”, he said.
