- TCN records partial system collapse in Lagos and other cities
- Grid restoration already in progress
- Some affected cities still without power
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has recorded a partial system collapse. A statement released by TCN says restoration of the grid supply is already in progress. While some cities have been restored, others are still without electricity.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) regrets to inform electricity consumers nationwide that at 11:25 am today, the nation’s electricity grid experienced multiple trippings, which led to the collapse of the system” the statement read. “TCN has since commenced grid restoration; power has been successfully restored to every part of the country, except Calabar, Ugwuaji, Markurdi, Jos, Gombe, Yola, and Maiduguri axes. Efforts are however ongoing to ensure full restoration nationwide”.
In the statement, TCN also apologises for any inconvenience the partial collapse may have caused. “Investigations would be conducted to establish the immediate and remote cause(s) of the multiple trippings as soon as the grid is fully restored”.
