Texas Oil Company to Deploy 6.5MW Solar Plant

  • Fossil fuel company, FireBird is set to purchase energy from a 6.5MW solar plant.
  • The plant will be developed by Priority Power.
  • The project is expected to reduce FireBird’s carbon footprint.

US clean energy developer, Priority Power Management is set to deploy a 6.5MW solar plant for Texas-based upstream oil and gas company FireBird Energy LLC. The solar plant will be deployed on FireBird’s land near Odessa in Ector County, Texas and connected to the private primary distribution system behind the metre.

Under the agreement, Priority Power will develop, finance, build, operate and maintain the solar plant with FireBird Energy bearing no upfront costs for the plant. Instead, FireBird will procure the electricity generated under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA), which will integrate with its supply agreements managed by Priority Power. As a result, the project is expected to reduce FireBird Energy’s carbon footprint and reduce its energy costs.
