Namibia’s capital city, Windhoek, has launched a tender request for independent power producers for the deployment of 25MW of solar PV capacity on a build, own, and operate basis. The city administration intends to develop these projects under a public-private partnership.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, the country has a total PV capacity of about 145MW of installed solar power at the end of 2020. The state-owned electric utility, NamPower, plans to install 220MW of clean energy capacity, including 40MW of solar.
Interested developers will have until August 19 to pre-qualify for the tender.
