Tinubu Arrives in UAE for IRENA’s Sustainability Summit

President Bola Tinubu arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, January 11, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). His aircraft landed at Zayed International Airport at approximately 11:30 p.m. local time.

Tinubu will attend the summit at the official invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. Furthermore, the visit aims to strengthen Nigeria’s role in sustainable development and position the country as a competitive player in the global renewable energy market.

Meanwhile, Presidency officials stated that Tinubu will use the forum to attract foreign investment and secure partnerships aligned with national economic growth objectives. The 2026 edition of ADSW is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go.”

In addition, the summit focuses on bridging the gap between climate ambition and action through three pillars: innovation, finance and people. ADSW remains a premier global platform for heads of state, industry experts and civil society leaders.

Participants will also address energy innovation, financing systems and the technical requirements needed for renewable energy transitions. The visit reflects strengthened cooperation between Nigeria and the UAE in green energy and broader economic engagement.
