Nadjagou Lalle Yentaguime, the winner of the 2022 “Tremplin Start-up” competition of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), supports rural electrification in Togo with his intelligent solar panels.
Engr. Nadjagou Lallé Yentaguime noticed as he was travelling to the farthest reaches of Togo from one town to the next that the solar street lamps did not light up during the dry season because of the winds that covered them with dust and sand. Faced with this observation, the young entrepreneur launched his start-up Energieaux in 2019, which develops the “Solar Tracker” and “Panel Cleaner” solutions.
The “Solar Tracker” increases the energy efficiency of solar streetlights or lanterns and is constructed from recycled materials. The “Panel Cleaner” activates an automatic cleaning mechanism for solar-powered street lighting installations. In addition, the system has a pump to water the plants “in case they need water,” according to Energieaux.
Togo’s rural electrification is aided by the technology solutions created by the start-up. By 2030, West Africa hopes to provide everyone with access to power. Awandjélo in the Kara region and Sokodé in the Central area are the locations of two solar photovoltaic power facilities that the Togolese government is planning to build in 2020. The facilities will have a combined capacity of between 60 and 80 MWp.
