Togo to Commence Construction Works for Two Solar Power Projects

The council of ministers of the government of Togo has passed two decrees to move forward in the preliminary works for the construction of two solar power projects in Salimde (60 MWp) and Awandjelo (60 MWp).

The council said that the decrees would “enable the start of compensation and expropriation procedures to secure the areas needed for the project.

The government believes that the project is essential to meeting its energy diversification targets and boosting energy supply to its national grid. Togo aims to achieve universal energy access by 2030. The country hopes to generate 50 per cent of its energy supply from renewables.
