- TotalEnergies seeks EPC bids for a 15MW solar plant near Lake Albert.
- Submit prequalification requests by June 7, 2024.
- Uganda will expand renewable energy, adding to 95 MW solar capacity in 2023.
TotalEnergies Uganda calls for expressions of interest for an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract. The contract involves developing a 15MW ground-mounted solar power plant near Lake Albert. This project will support the Tilenga oil production project, which involves six oil fields in western Uganda.
The solar power plant will be a turnkey installation to boost the energy supply for oil activities. Interested contractors must submit prequalification requests via email by June 7, 2024. The tender document details specific requirements applicants must meet.
By the end of 2023, Uganda had installed 95 MW of solar power, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). TotalEnergies’ project aims to integrate more renewable energy into Uganda’s energy mix.
Earlier this year, Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment launched a tender for the Expanding Electricity Access Project. This five-year initiative aims to build 40 solar energy systems nationwide. This move underscores Uganda’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy infrastructure.
