- TotalEnergies will supply wind energy to Air Liquide’s facilities in Belgium.
- This is a 15-year contract.
- This deal will save about 270,000 tonnes of CO2.
TotalEnergies has agreed to a deal to supply clean energy to power industrial gases supplier Air Liquide’s facilities in Belgium. Both companies have signed a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) that will see Air Liquide get 50GWh of electricity every year from an offshore wind park in the Belgian North Sea.
The energy will power some of Air Liquide’s industrial and medical gas production sites. The contract will run for 15 years and became effective on the 1st of June. TotalEnergies estimates that the deal will save about 270,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions over 15 years.
Air Liquide has set a goal of lowering its carbon footprint as part of its sustainability plan. The company had earlier signed a PPA for the supply of 25MW from Vattenfall-owned offshore wind turbines in the Netherlands.
