The Government of Tunisia has inaugurated the new Tozeur II solar power plant in the southwest of Tunisia. The ceremony took place in the presence of officials of the German Development Agency (KfW), the project’s financial partner, and the officials of the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas (Steg).
The German development agency financed the project with a loan of 11.5 million euros. Of this funding, only 8 million euros was finally used for the construction of the plant. The rest of the money should, according to KfW, support the establishment of a battery storage system to optimize the production of the solar power plant of Tozeur II. The facility, which has a capacity of 10 MWp, was built by the Steg following the Tozeur I, which has the same capacity.
