The project costs $250 million

Melbournes grid network is set to enjoy the upgrade of the Waratah Place Zone Substation project. The transmission upgrade project involved one of the most complex underground cable network installations. The Waratah Place Zone Substation project will serve as a backup to withstand multiple outages and provide continuous supply to homes and businesses if unexpected events occur affecting major supply lines. The upgrade will limit outage times to, at most, 30 minutes.

The $250 million project began in 2016 and was carried out by Daly’s Construction in collaboration with Australia’s largest grid network operators, CitiPower and Powercor.

Mark Daly, Director at Daly’s Constructions, commended the project, saying, ”The success of the project delivery is due to the collaborative approach with the Powercor project team and other stakeholders, effective planning and Daly’s highly experienced and committed workforce.”
