Tri-Company Alliance to Revolutionise Sustainable Aviation Fuel

  • Haffner Energy, LanzaTech, and LanzaJet partner to develop Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from biomass residues to meet rising aviation demand.
  • CirculAir™ technology and syngas conversion will expand SAF production by transforming waste and biomass into clean fuel.
  • The collaboration will create jobs, boost rural economies, and align with global aviation emission reduction goals.

Haffner Energy, LanzaTech, and LanzaJet have announced a partnership to accelerate the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The companies aim to address the rising demand for clean energy in aviation by developing SAF from biomass residues.

Haffner Energy, a French company with over 30 years of expertise, converts biomass into clean fuels. LanzaTech, based in the U.S., transforms waste gases into ethanol, a key ingredient for SAF. LanzaJet, an Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) technology expert, converts ethanol into SAF. By combining their strengths, the three companies will streamline SAF production.

The partners will also leverage CirculAir™, a technology developed by LanzaTech and LanzaJet, to turn waste and biomass into SAF. Haffner Energy’s syngas technology converts residues into synthetic gas, expanding the range of materials used for SAF production.

In addition to technological development, the partnership plans to launch commercial SAF projects. They will build refineries to produce SAF at scale, explore licensing their technology, and attract investments for future projects.

Philippe Haffner, CEO of Haffner Energy, highlighted the economic benefits of these projects, noting how they will create jobs in rural areas and add value to agricultural and forestry waste.

Dr. Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of LanzaTech, stressed the importance of collaboration in meeting the growing SAF demand while driving economic growth. She pointed out how creating new industrial infrastructure will strengthen local economies.

As the SAF market rapidly expands, the companies aim to align with global aviation emissions reduction goals. Their combined technologies will help accelerate the transition to sustainable energy for the aviation sector.

By pooling their expertise, Haffner Energy, LanzaTech, and LanzaJet are taking a significant step toward creating scalable, sustainable aviation fuel solutions. Their joint projects and technological advancements offer a promising future for clean aviation fuel alternatives.

This partnership positions them to lead the way in reducing the aviation sector’s carbon footprint and delivering environmentally friendly and economically viable fuel solutions.
