- Trina Solar claims 210210 mm monocrystalline n-type i-TOPCon solar cell has a new world record.
- The National Institute of Metrology, China, confirmed the result.
A Chinese module maker, Trina Solar, claims that their 210210 mm monocrystalline n-type i-TOPCon solar cell has achieved a new world record efficiency of 25.5 per cent. According to the manufacturer, the solar cell will be further developed using commercial manufacturing equipment. The National Institute of Metrology, China, has confirmed the result.
“We are delighted with our recent achievements,” said Chen Yifeng, director of Trina’s High-Efficiency Cells and Modules Research and Development Center. “Trina Solar is deeply involved in cutting-edge research and development and is a technological production and manufacturing pioneer, contributing to the company’s leadership position with its efficient products.”
The efficiency of Trina’s TOPCon solar cell was 23.22 per cent in June 2019. In addition, Trina noted that the record-breaking 247.79cm2 bifacial devices were made on a substantial phosphorus-doped, cast-mono silicon substrate utilizing a low-cost industrial method. ISFH CalTeC in Germany independently corroborated this result.
