Chinese solar PV producer Trina Solar has unveiled a new Vertex solar module with a power output rating of 670 W. The new module has a conversion efficiency of 21.6% and will be used in large scale solar power projects.
According to the manufacturer, the new panel is based on 210mm wafers and utilises high-density interconnection, and multi-busbar (MBB) technology to improve efficiency. Non-destructive cutting technology is used to reduce the risks of cell micro-cracking and power loss.
Trina claims that this new module will lower the Levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and the balance-of-system (BoS) costs of a project because fewer arrays will be achieved with larger more efficient panels. The manufacturer believes that the new module could reduce projects’ costs by as much as 7 per cent. Trina had earlier launched its 635-660W Vertex series in August. The 670W panel is the most powerful module ever manufactured by Trina Solar.
