Turkey Plans to Add 1.5GW of Solar PV Capacity in 5th Tender Round

  • Turkey is set to add 1.5Gw of solar via a 5th round of its YEKA scheme.
  • The tender is targeting individual projects of 10, 20 & 30MW.

According to Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the country plans to tender 1.5GW of solar PV capacity via 76 mini procurements. The tender round will be the fifth of the country’s Renewable Energy Resources Zone (YEKA) tender scheme. Projects in 23 grid-connection regions can bid in the round. The individual project capacity targeted by the round is  10MW, 20MW and 30MW, and the tender tariff will be capped at TRY 0.40 ($0.045/€0.039) per kWh.

The YEKA tenders were set up to enable Turkey to meet its target of providing 65 per cent domestic energy demands via clean energy sources by 2023 and installing 15GW of solar PV capacity by 2027. Interested Developers have until January 12, 2022, to submit their bids.
