Turkey’s Electricity Consumption Rises by 5.95% in July

According to data from Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the country recorded an increase in electricity consumption in July with a 5.95% increase. The country consumed 30.24 billion kWh in July. Turkey also recorded the single highest daily consumption on July 30th, with a consumption of 1.09 billion kWh.

The country generated 16.4% of electricity from hydroelectric power plants, 35.6% from natural gas power plants, and 13.3 % from domestic coal power plants. Electricity generation from wind energy was 9.9%, and imported coal power plants generated 15.7%. Other energy sources such as geothermal, solar, fuel-oil and biomass made up the remaining energy generated.

In July, the country’s electricity imports decreased by 32.93% to 115.36 million kWh, while electricity exports increased by 230% to 459 million kWh.
