U.S. to Ban Products from Xinjiang-Based Solar Manufacturers

ACCORDING TO REUTERS, the U.S. Government resolved to ban products from four Xinjiang-based solar module manufacturers over forced labour allegations.

The U.S. Department of Commerce will ban the importation of products from China’s largest silicon manufacturer Hoshine Silicon Industry Co (the primary provider for all major polysilicon producers based in Xinjiang), alongside three other polysilicon makers – Daqo, East Hope and GCL New Energy Material Co. State-owned Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps is also one of the companies to be banned.

According to Reuters, the Department of Commerce gave as reasons for the ban the human rights violations, mass detention, forced labour, and high-technology surveillance against Uyghurs and Kazakhs.
