- 55,000 tonnes of green ammonia to be produced from electricity generated.
Atome Energy, a UK green hydrogen and ammonia producer, has signed an off-take deal for a 60MW hydropower electricity for “near-term” production in Paraguay.
The firm revealed that a long-term power purchase agreement with Ande, which is the national electricity supply and distribution company in Paraguay, will have it receive supplies. The contract requires the delivery of available baseload electricity from existing hydropower plants at “the lowest industrial standard user tariff” that is currently available.
The volume of the power under contract will be used in the support of a large-scaled project of Atome which is expected to yield up to 55,000 tonnes of green ammonia every year in Villeta. Atome revealed that it will now begin with the design and procurement stage of the project and will only come to a final investment decision in the second half of this year.
The production facility is expected to be ready for operation within a space of three years, and its output is available for both local and international markets. According to Atome, the power of-take deal is now the largest to be signed between Ande and an industrialuse.
