UNIDO, NASENI Collaborate to Boost Energy and Industry Sectors

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) collaborate to address energy poverty and boost Nigeria’s industries. Led by Mr Adekunle Olusile, UNIDO’s Deputy Head in Nigeria, the discussions aimed to connect German companies, research institutions, and NASENI to cut energy waste and aid food production goals.

NASENI, represented by Mrs Nonyem Onyechi, appreciated UNIDO’s efforts and showcased its role in Nigeria’s tech-driven industrial growth. Michael Schmidt from UNIDO’s German office emphasized transferring technology to countries like Nigeria. This collaboration aims to foster partnerships between German companies and NASENI for socio-economic development, especially in food processing, packaging, and renewable energy.

The Deputy Head of the UNIDO Nigeria Office stressed Germany’s interest in boosting Nigeria’s solar PV usage by 2030. To move ahead, NASENI and UNIDO formed a working group. German companies like Bloomhill Agroservices, (B)energy, Wilo Pumps, GEA, EMPO-NI, and University Weihenstephan Triesdorf participated in the meeting at Belanova Apartment and Suites in Abuja, setting the stage for impactful collaborations to advance Nigeria’s industries and energy sector.
