The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has raised concerns on the implementation of the new electricity tariff. He said, most Universities in the country will find it hard paying the new tariffs on the resumption of schools next year.
In a media chat, the VC gave an account of his tenure and noted that, with the new tariffs, the university will have to pay at least ₦90 million monthly. Prior to the COVID-19 period, the university paid on average ₦60 – 62 million monthly for electricity consumption.
“Paying such a huge amount will certainly be a serious problem for the university” he said.
