- Voltalia and others to build three solar parks in Uzbekistan.
- Bi-facial panels mounted on trackers will be used in the solar farm.
French renewable energy company Voltalia builds three solar parks in Uzbekistan with a combined capacity of 500 MW in partnership with the UAE’s Masdar, GD Power and Powerchina.
The western Khorezm province has been given to Voltalia, who intends to construct a 123-MW/100-MW AC solar project there. The location is close to the Turkmenistan border. According to information released last week by the Uzbek Ministry of Energy and National Grid, Voltalia’s proposal is for $0.0288 per kWh. Bi-facial panels mounted on trackers will be used in the solar farm, which is expected to be operational in 2024.
With an offer of $0.0304 per kWh, Masdar won the competition for a 250 MW project in the Bukhara region. The solar power facility will be coupled with a 62 MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
For the construction of a 150 MW photovoltaic (PV) park in the Namangan area, the GD Power-Powerchina collaboration was chosen. The firm’s bid of $0.0482 per kWh won the competition.
To meet the nation’s goal of constructing 12 GW of solar and wind power by 2030, the Uzbek Ministry of Energy and National Grid conducted the auction in July.
