Scandinavia’s largest offshore wind farm, the Kriegers Flak, will be commissioned by the Danish Crown Prince and the Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Simon Kollerup on the 6th of September. The farm, owned and operated by Vattenfall, comprises 72, 188 meters tall offshore wind turbines that can generate 604MW, enough to power 600,000 Danish households. The farm is located in the Baltic Sea, 15-40 kilometres off the Danish coast and will increase Denmark’s installed wind capacity by 16 per cent. The wind farm covers 132 square kilometres with about 170 kilometres of underwater cables connecting the plant to the grid.
Anna Borg, CEO of Vattenfall, states: “We are very proud of the contribution that Kriegers Flak brings to the wind energy production in Denmark and the green transition. After a successful construction process, Kriegers Flak is now ready to provide green power to Danish homes and industry, and we look forward to His Royal Highness and the Minister coming to mark this great occasion with us.”
