Vena Energy, MGreen Partner for 550MW Solar Project in the Philippines

  • Commercial operations for the Bugallon Solar Power Project by Vena Energy and MGen’s MGreen are expected to start by the fourth quarter of 2025.
  • The project aligns with both companies’ goals of advancing renewable energy, contributing to the Philippines’ sustainable energy future.

Vena Energy, a leading renewable energy company in the Asia-Pacific region, has formed a strategic partnership with MGen Renewable Energy Inc. (MGreen), the renewable energy arm of Manila Electric Company, Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen). Together, they will develop the 550-megawatt (MW) Bugallon Solar Power Project in Bugallon, Pangasinan, Philippines.

Vena Energy plans to start construction later this year and launch commercial operations by the fourth quarter of 2025. This project will rank among the largest solar power installations in the Philippines, delivering a substantial 550MW DC capacity.

Nitin Apte, CEO of Vena Energy, underscored the project’s role in driving the energy transition in the Philippines. “This project demonstrates Vena Energy’s commitment to accelerating the shift towards renewable energy,” Apte stated.

“We aim to create green solutions that foster sustainable growth and environmental stewardship. The Bugallon Solar Power Project represents our dedication to building a greener future for the Philippines.”

This partnership allows Vena Energy to expand its presence in the growing renewable energy market of the Philippines. The Bugallon project is a critical component in the country’s broader energy transition efforts and marks a significant advancement for both Vena Energy and MGreen.

Manny V. Rubio, President of MGen, highlighted the importance of the project in MGen’s renewable energy strategy. “This investment brings us closer to achieving 1,500 MW of attributable renewable energy by 2030.

“Moreover, it strengthens our collaboration with partners who share our vision for a sustainable energy future. We remain committed to powering the growth of the Philippines through renewable energy,” Rubio added.

The Bugallon solar power project will reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuels, supporting the Philippines’ pursuit of a more sustainable energy mix. The project will create job opportunities during construction and operation, contributing to local economic development and benefiting the Bugallon community.

MGen leads the Philippine energy sector by managing Global Business Power Corporation and MGreen. The company leverages advanced technologies to provide reliable and cost-effective power solutions. Its partnership with Vena Energy highlights MGen’s ongoing commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and driving the country’s shift towards a sustainable energy future.

The Bugallon solar power project will be pivotal as the Philippines pushes toward its renewable energy goals. Vena Energy and MGreen stand ready to shape the country’s energy landscape, paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future.
