Vivo Energy Ghana recently donated solar panels to La Enobal Basic School and La Presby Primary A and B in Accra, Ghana, showcasing its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment. This donation, timed ahead of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), aims to support final-year students during their crucial exam preparation.

Shirley Tony Kum, Vivo Energy’s Corporate Communications Manager, emphasised the significance of solar lamps in providing a reliable source of light for students to study at night, particularly amidst power outages.

This act of generosity reflects Vivo Energy’s broader focus on sustainable practices. Kum highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to develop solar solutions for its retail stations and depots, with 25 sites across Ghana already operating on solar power. This aligns with the company’s environmental responsibility goals, demonstrating a commitment to reducing carbon footprints and promoting eco-friendly energy alternatives.

Furthermore, Vivo Energy, in collaboration with United Way Ghana and Academic City, introduced the Green4Clean School’s Renewable Energy program. This innovative initiative aims to educate students on various renewable energy sources, particularly solar energy, fostering a culture of environmental sustainability and responsibility among young minds.

The Director of Education at La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly, Habibah Kotomah, expressed gratitude for the donation and recognised its profound impact on student’s academic endeavours. With solar lamps, students can study for longer hours, overcoming the challenges of unstable power outages.

This support enhances the students’ exam preparation and underscores the importance of partnerships between corporate entities and educational institutions in fostering community development and empowerment.
