WEST AFRICA: TCN Boss Urges WAPP Members to Commit to Electricity Improvement

The Executive Board of the West African Power Pool (WAPP) held its 49th Executive Board meeting in Cotonou, Republic of Benin. In attendance were member states including the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Sule Abdulaziz who doubles as the Chairman of WAPP.

Abdulaziz in his address to the Board stressed the importance of member states in facilitating the improvement of electricity supply in the region. He added that the members must ensure the payment of dues in a timely manner to enable WAPP to carry out its responsibilities.

Speaking on the report on the status of WAPP projects, Abdulaziz was satisfied with the progress of the projects despite the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown which affected movement in the region. He thanked the Secretary-General, Siengui Apollinaire KI, for successfully concluding the negotiations between WAPP and its Technical and Financial Partners on the financing of critical WAPP projects.
