West African Countries Continue To Call For Regional Electricity Market.

  • West African Power Pool (WAPP) pushes its determination to have a regional electricity market.
  • Chairman, Sule Abdulaziz assures member countries to be interconnected.
  • Secretary-General says efforts are being made despite the pandemic.

The member countries under the West African Power Pool (WAPP), yesterday, expressed their determination to have a regional electricity market. This would see the interconnection between Nigeria, Niger, Ghana, amongst others.

The aim of the regional market is to boost competitiveness in the African continent. Chairman of WAPP, Sule Abdulaziz assured that soon member countries would be interconnected.

Also, Secretary-General of WAPP, Apolonaire Seingui, reassured that efforts are already underway for the implementation of the market, despite the effects of the pandemic.
