The Western Australian government has launched a new round of funding for clean energy projects, providing AUD 9 million (USD 6.1 million / EUR 5.2 million) in grants. This initiative aims to help the state diversify its energy supply and accelerate decarbonisation. Consequently, the government prioritises innovative projects that deliver practical solutions for renewable energy generation and improve energy efficiency.
The fourth round of the Clean Energy Future Fund (CEFF) is now officially open. The government will award individual grants ranging from AUD 100,000 to AUD 4 million, enabling both small and large projects to participate. Importantly, the government will accept applications until 20 April. Therefore, organisations should submit their proposals promptly to maximise their chances of receiving funding.
Round 4 focuses on several key areas. These include green exports, local manufacturing, renewable energy generation, energy resilience, electrification, and long-duration energy storage. Additionally, the government prioritises projects that deliver tangible benefits to First Nations peoples. As a result, the CEFF promotes technological innovation while generating social impact across Western Australia.
Since launching the CEFF in 2020, the government has awarded a total of AUD 37 million to innovative projects. For example, in Round 3, seven projects covering solar, green hydrogen, and energy storage technologies received AUD 16 million in grants. Rounds 1 and 2 allocated AUD 1.8 million and AUD 9.3 million, respectively. Overall, the fund encourages experimentation and the deployment of new clean energy technologies across the state.
