South African solar company WiSolar will partner with ooba homes to provide solar power to homes. This initiative will ensure that homeowners enjoy low-cost uninterrupted solar power, especially as Eskom load-shedding become a normal fixture in the country in the coming years.

While the energy mix in South Africa is still dominated by coal, clean energy companies are increasingly looking to transform the energy landscape via renewable energy sources. WiSolar has, in recent years, adopted innovative ways to streamline solar in South Africa.

Tonye Irims, the founder of WiSolar, in a statement, noted that “there has been a reduced appetite for financing coal as global attention shifts towards natural gas and renewables. Also, this initiative will make for self-sustaining EV (Electronic Vehicle) ready homes in South Africa.”

This initiative will ensure that homeowners subscribed to the ooba mortgage plan can purchase homes with installed solar power. The initiative also includes the option of splitting home energy load across the grid and solar technologies, voltage and frequency stabilization from step down transformers, peak and critical load balancing, and on-demand power management.

WiSolar was founded in 2016 had initially gone into partnership with LG in March 2020 to make solar panels available to a wider range of customers. The company has expanded its operations to Nigeria.
