The firm notes that it will continue to replace fossil-fuel-based traditional energy sources as more homes and businesses switch to\u00a0solar. In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/theelectricityhub.com\/?s=scatec\">Scatec<\/a> projects that the installed\u00a0solar\u00a0PV\u00a0capacity will surpass coal, becoming the most significant\u00a0power\u00a0source in the world by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Scatec\u2019s sub-Saharan\u00a0Africa\u00a0executive, VP\u00a0Jan Fourie, notes, \u201cWe see ourselves as forerunners in South\u00a0Africa\u2019s bourgeoning\u00a0solar\u00a0industry, and our facilities already contribute substantially to the county\u2019s\u00a0solar\u00a0energy\u00a0output. The trio of\u00a0projects\u00a0in the Northern Cape\u2019s Kenhardt region alone boasts a cumulative capacity of 540 MW in\u00a0solar\u00a0production and 1,140 MWh in battery\u00a0storage. Additionally, earlier this year, Scatec reached\u00a0a financial\u00a0close on a new trio of plants in Grootfontein, which will have a total capacity of 273 MW.\u00a0Construction\u00a0will continue in earnest, with completion expected in 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cMeanwhile, in North Cameroon, Scatec preassembled tailored\u00a0solar\u00a0power\u00a0and battery\u00a0storage\u00a0systems, which are the first of their kind to be deployed in the country, and the\u00a0solar\u00a0hybrid and battery storage plants boast a capacity of 36 MW\u00a0solar\u00a0and 20 MW, or 19 MWh, of\u00a0energy\u00a0storage.
