Baltic II offshore wind project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Poland awarded over 16 TWh of electricity through its December auctions, focusing heavily on solar power to reduce coal reliance and meet its renewable energy goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">On Friday, January 3, RWE, a <a href=\"https:\/\/renewablesnow.com\/news\/rwe-lands-84-mw-of-solar-awards-in-polish-auction-1268895\/\">German<\/a> energy company, announced its success in securing 31 photovoltaic (PV) projects in Poland\u2019s recent renewable energy auction. With a combined capacity of 84 MWac\/102 MWdc, these projects will soon begin construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Most solar projects already have complete permits, and RWE plans to start construction shortly. The company, which operates 91 MW of <a href=\"https:\/\/theelectricityhub.com\/?s=solar+parks\">solar parks<\/a> in Poland, aims to expand its portfolio by adding over 100 MW. Katja Wunschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe and Australia, reaffirmed the company\u2019s dedication to driving Poland\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/theelectricityhub.com\/?s=energy+transition\">energy transition<\/a> through these projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">RWE manages a diverse portfolio of renewable energy assets in Poland. In addition to solar, the company runs 541 MW of onshore wind farms and develops its first offshore wind project, the 350-MW F.E.W. Baltic II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">During Poland\u2019s recent renewable energy auctions in December, the country contracted over 16 TWh of electricity, with solar power making up the majority. These auctions align with Poland\u2019s push to reduce coal dependency and cut <a href=\"https:\/\/theelectricityhub.com\/?s=carbon+emissions\">carbon emissions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">RWE continues to expand its renewable <a href=\"https:\/\/theelectricityhub.com\/?s=energy+footprint\">energy footprint<\/a> across Europe. The company has been increasing its solar and wind energy investments, reinforcing its position as a leader in the continent\u2019s clean energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">RWE has significantly grown its renewable energy capacity in Poland, focusing on solar and wind. These new solar projects support Poland\u2019s strategy to diversify its energy sources and decrease its reliance on coal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Polish government aims to meet its renewable energy targets, increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix to 32% by 2030. Solar energy is crucial in this plan, providing a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">RWE\u2019s involvement in Poland\u2019s wind energy sector also strengthens the country\u2019s renewable energy efforts.
