- Xos has developed a mobile charging unit.
- The unit can store up to 3MWh of energy and is powered by rooftop solar panels.
- The towable unit can fit in two standard parking spots.
Commercial Electric vehicles manufacturer Xos is set to release a mobile charging station for EV fleets dubbed Xos Hub. The towable unit can be deployed in the fleet yard – as it fits in two standard parking spots – without any infrastructure installation, the company said. Xos adds that the mobile unit can simultaneously charge up to five vehicles with its CCS1 charge port connectors. The unit can hold about 3MWh of stored energy and has 480V single-phase and three-phase inputs. The unit is powered by solar panels on the unit’s roof.
The company believes that this innovative charging station will address the challenges associated with charging access and accelerate EV adoption. The company also believes that the Xos Hub will be key to meeting Joe Biden’s administration target of 50 per cent EV sales share by 2030. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technology Office (VTO) announced a $62 million package for clean vehicles to meet this target.
