During the weekend, stakeholders urged youths to explore the numerous opportunities in the energy sector. They made this appeal at the Youth Energy Summit (YES) in Lagos, where they equally charged young people to take the initiative to develop innovative solutions that could revolutionise the industry.
The players pointed out that the sector had many opportunities for youths, ranging from research, engineering, and finance to customer service and human resources. Human Resource Manager, Genesis Energy Group, Emmanuel Yusuf, stressed that non-technical opportunities were also accessible in the sector. He added that the industry is a crucial enabler for economic growth and development, noting that the youths are vital to unlocking the sector’s potential.
Head of Programmes, Performance, Operation and Finance at Youth Sustainable Development Network, Durodoluwa Femi-Ajala, shared her transformative journey by advising youths to shun rigidity, embrace new learning experiences and promote personal growth. On her part, HR Business Partner at GE Verona, Bethel Nwaneri, underscored the importance of having the right attitude, learning agility, mentors for guidance, and not overlooking opportunities.
