- Zero Carbon Ventures and Green Planet team up for waste management in Cairo.
- ZCGP ventures to process 400 tonnes of waste daily, yielding valuable products.
Zero Carbon Ventures and Green Planet are partnering to address organic waste in Cairo. Their partnership, Zero Carbon Green Planet (ZCGP), aims to revolutionise waste management at the May 15 landfill site.
They established the venture on February 7, 2024, intending to deploy cutting-edge technology to extract maximum value from waste streams. Martin Reynolds, CEO of Zero Carbon Ventures, emphasises the importance of resource recovery from waste.
Their upcoming manufacturing plant in Egypt aims to process a substantial 400 tonnes of organic waste daily, yielding valuable products like graphene, hydrogen, and fertiliser. This initiative reduces greenhouse gas emissions and aligns with Egypt’s circular economy objectives.
Tarek El-Araby, CEO of Egypt’s Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA), praises the project’s economic growth and job creation potential. With plans to employ up to 250 individuals, the venture contributes to poverty reduction efforts in the country.
Operations begin in 2025, thereby marking the first phase of a comprehensive waste-to-energy solution for Cairo.
By 2027, the entire project is expected to bolster Egypt’s position as a regional hub for economic growth and manufacturing. Carbon Ventures reaffirms its commitment to supporting Egypt’s sustainability goals.
ZCGP aims to drive a clean industrial revolution by harnessing innovative materials like graphene. The venture aims to create a greener future for Egypt and the broader region through collaboration with local partners like Green Planet.
