- ZESA concludes series of interventions aimed at putting an end to load shedding
- Continues negotiations on electricity imports
The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has concluded a series of interventions on its network. The interventions will improve electricity supply and end major load shedding in residential areas.
ZESA has continued negotiations with Zambia and Mozambique on electricity imports. A delegation from ZESA visited Zambia for negotiations with Zambian state-owned utility ZESCO. Energy and Power Development Minister Zhemu Soda stated that Zambia had indicated an interest in selling 100MW of excess capacity from its Kafue Gorge power station.
“Mozambique also told us that they have an additional 180 MW over and above what we are currently importing, and these new two deals will give us an additional 280MW. That should help us to reduce the deficit of between 200 and 300MW.” Soda said.
