ZIMBABWE: ZETDC Hikes Electricity Tariffs by 30%

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has increased the electricity tariffs by 30%. The ZETDC announced the increment in a statement on Thursday. The ZETDC stated that the increment became necessary due to the rising cost of supplying electricity to consumers. The tariff increments will take effect from 26th May, 2021 and will affect all tariff bands.

“The Zimbabwe Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) would like to advise its valued customers that electricity tariffs have been adjusted upwards by 30%, effective 26th May 2021. The increase is based on the outstanding indexation for the year 2020”, the statement read.

According to news platform Pindula Zimbabwe, the old and new tariffs are as follows
