Zelestra has launched Peru’s largest solar power facility, the 300MWdc San Martín plant, in the La Joya district of Arequipa.

The company’s in-house engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) team delivered the project in less than 18 months. Now generating 830 GWh of clean electricity annually, San Martín can power more than 440,000 homes and offset over 166,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions yearly.

During peak construction, the project created 900 jobs and met its deadline and budget targets.

Zelestra is selling the plant’s output to Kallpa Generación under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), supporting the utility’s efforts to diversify its energy mix in Peru.

Zelestra CEO Leo Moreno said: “The successful delivery of San Martín reinforces our commitment to a customer-first approach. By leveraging our global EPC expertise, we can co-build tailored solutions that come to life on time and budget.”

He added: “We are proud to see Peru’s most ambitious solar project fully operational. We look forward to a long-term partnership with Kallpa to deliver clean, reliable energy for years.”

Zelestra currently holds more than 7GW of solar and battery storage projects in its Latin American pipeline, with 1.7GW already contracted. BloombergNEF recently ranked Zelestra among the world’s top 10 clean energy suppliers to corporate customers and second across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
