ECG in the process of recovering ₵200m from PDS
- President Nana Akufo-Addo terminated the agreement in 2019
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is currently trying to recover ₵200m from the failed Power Distribution Services (PDS) and ECG concession agreement. The Deputy Minister-designate for Energy, William Owuraku Aidoo, disclosed that the PDS has failed to transfer the funds back to ECG following the termination of the agreement by President Nana Akufo-Addo in July 2019.
Speaking to the members of Parliament, Mr Aidoo stated that the PDS allegedly owes the EGC according to the letter received from some contractors. ”When I was in office, some letters came in from some contractors that they were being owed money so I took steps and the response I got when I contacted ECG was that they are yet to sit down to do some reconciliation after which they’ll see the way forward as to what to do with the money”, he said.
The Deputy Minister, however, assured the Parliament that the ECG is working to recover the funds.
