Electricity regulator Aneel says Brazil has awarded contracts for about 984.71MW of renewable power capacity in two auctions held on July 8. The auctions labelled A-3 and A-4 negotiated tenders from several sources, including wind, solar, hydro and biomass-based thermal. About BRL The government has signed about BRL 4 billion ($761m) worth of contracts for the projects.
The projects include; 33 wind projects (419.5MW), 7 solar projects (269.30), 5 biomass projects (183.64), 6 hydro projects (112.27MW). The Brazilian government awarded 20 and 30 years PPAS for the projects scheduled to commence power supply on January 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025.
