- Siemens and EEHC have agreed to deploy a 200MW electrolyser.
- Both companies will jointly work to establish a green hydrogen industry in Egypt.
Siemens Energy AG has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC). Under the agreement, Siemens will deploy a pilot electrolyser facility of up to 200MW in Egypt to develop a “robust green hydrogen industry” in the country. In addition, both companies will jointly explore green hydrogen production and export opportunities in Egypt.
Siemens Energy and EEHC believe that installing a 100MW to 200MW electrolyser capacity will enable a wider industry development. Both companies will jointly promote investment, technology transfer and implementation of projects based on renewable hydrogen. Christian Bruch, Siemen’s CEO, stated,” The development of a homegrown hydrogen ecosystem and value chain in Egypt has the potential to deliver a more sustainable and prosperous future for Egyptians.”
Both companies had earlier signed a letter of intent in January, where they agreed to cooperate long-term and scale-up Egypt’s hydrogen industry.
