Brazil Awards 985MW of Renewable Energy in 2 Auctions

  • Brazil has auctioned off about 984.7MW of clean energy.
  • The government has signed 20 and 30 years PPAs for 51 projects.

Electricity regulator Aneel says Brazil has awarded contracts for about 984.71MW of renewable power capacity in two auctions held on July 8. The auctions labelled A-3 and A-4 negotiated tenders from several sources, including wind, solar, hydro and biomass-based thermal. About BRL The government has signed about BRL 4 billion ($761m) worth of contracts for the projects.

The projects include; 33 wind projects (419.5MW), 7 solar projects (269.30), 5 biomass projects (183.64), 6 hydro projects (112.27MW). The Brazilian government awarded 20 and 30 years PPAS for the projects scheduled to commence power supply on January 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025.
